BRUNSWICK, Ohio – A Brunswick family’s garage went up in flames after a turkey cooking accident on Thanksgiving.
Firefighters responded Thursday afternoon to a home in the 5000 block of Woodcliff Circle.
According to the homeowners, they were smoking a turkey near the garage when it caught fire.
A neighbor saw the fire as it was waist high and ran over to help.
When firefighters arrived, the entire garage was engulfed in flames.
Both cars that were parked in the garage are totally lost.
The fire never spread to the house, but it had some smoke damage, according to the Brunswick Fire Department.
“The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but the Brunswick Hills Fire Department would like to remind the public when cooking outside to make sure there is ample distance between your cooker and any structure. It is recommended to have at least 10 feet, “informs the department in a press release.
