Content creators, social media, marketing jobs for growth in 2021: LinkedIn

NEW DELHI : Freelance content creators, marketing, social media and digital marketing, cybersecurity and specialized engineering roles will present better job opportunities and come out among the top five job categories in 2021, according to LinkedIn.

LinkedIn’s list of ‘Rising Jobs’ includes 15 fast-growing jobs, and aims to help professionals, especially those who may have lost their jobs during the pandemic, know about the employment environment. These categories record the highest annual employment growth rate, based on LinkedIn data between April and October.

At the top of the list are content creators who use creative storytelling skills to produce entertaining content such as podcasts, the growth of Youtube, bloggers and content coordinators is expected. With India expected to have more than 760 million smartphone users in 2021, demand for local and relevant content will not grow until 2021.

YouTube is the most popular digital platform in the country with a penetration rate of 82%. India also has a growing podcast scene and is currently the third largest market for listening to podcasts, according to a KPMG report. As new ways of monetizing this content emerge, the demand for those who can produce captivating stories will only grow.

The roles of cybersecurity and data science will continue to grow as data security becomes a key priority for both consumers and organizations. Startups, including Zoomcar and Unacademy, saw user data leaked to the dark web last year, while a data breach in BigBasket hit the privacy of 20 million users. Experts say teleworking is now increasingly accepted, so organizations’ investment in cybersecurity solutions will increase.

As the EdTech, HealthTech, and FinTech sectors continue to experience significant digital revision, professionals who can smoothly turn to digital technology-based operations will be especially sought after. Roles in finance, education, healthcare and e-commerce are also expected to gain popularity in the labor market.

As telecommuting becomes popular, HR professionals face new challenges in hiring, training, and hiring. This has increased the demand for qualified HR executives who can remotely involve new employees as well as develop existing talent.
