The Ministry of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, represented by the Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language, has concluded its participation in the fifty-second session of the Cairo International Book Fair, which was held from June 30 to July 15.
The center participated in the exhibition with two wings, the first with an area of 40 square meters dedicated to displaying the center’s main programs and initiatives, hosting the cultural program, while the second, with an area of 18 square meters, was devoted to displaying and selling books. The “Kalima” translation and “issue” projects also presented more than 500 titles, including 27 new titles, and readers could view a selection of audiobooks from the most prominent books and prose literature featured in the “Atheer al-Kutub” and “Wajeez al-Kutub” initiative corner for books, audio files with their smartphone, by scanning the QR code.
As part of its participation in the exhibition, the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center delegation held a series of high-level meetings and visits, including the visit of the Grand Imam, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, to inform him about the main programs and initiatives that the center intends to carry out, and to discuss ways of joint cooperation to develop the Arabic language and promote its use and dissemination in the world. The delegation also met His Excellency Dr. Enas Abdel Dayem, Egyptian Minister of Culture, to open new horizons for cooperation in the field of cultural exchange and to strengthen relations between the two countries in this field. The center’s delegation held two meetings with representatives of the Association of Arab Book Fairs and the Union of Arab Publishers to discuss issues of publishing and its development and areas of cooperation and collaborative work among book fairs in the region.
On this occasion, Dr. Ali bin Tamim, President of the Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language, said: “We were delighted to participate in the fifty-second session of the Cairo International Book Fair and its success, especially after the delay imposed by the pandemic.
