For most, the YouTube feed or “Home” page is great for recommending videos you’d like to see. However, it can be repeated and YouTube wants to fix it with “New to You”.
On your mobile, “New to You” appears as a suggestion on the top carousel, just below the app bar. The chip appears after the default display “All” and has a delicious hue in rainbow colors.
Touching displays a feed of videos that are “” beyond [your] typical recommendations “. Google explained earlier this month that it heard comments from YouTube users about how” their home feeds feel a little outdated. ”
That is, they come back to YouTube day in and day out and see the same taste of recommendations they’ve seen before.
While the content featured in this feed allows viewers to “explore outside of their typical recommendations,” there is still a level of customization. In my case, I like night programs and they recommended a program that I don’t normally watch.
On your computer, Google appears in a similar message if users scroll down the home page and still haven’t found anything to see. YouTube explains that this is different from the Explore feed, which focuses on specific verticals such as games, embellishment, and trends. Again, it is much more personalized than existing discovery features.
In early July, Google said it would begin deploying during that month. Several of our devices in the U.S., UK, and France are watching “New to You” today on YouTube for Android. If there’s nothing to recommend, it’s at the end of the top carousel with no hints of color.
