Cape Town – A mother of Khayelitsha has reportedly died at the hands of her own son.
A neighbor says the woman was killed because she failed to charge the suspect’s cell phone. She says the mother was busy with something else when her son attacked her.
“The mother said she would charge the phone but she was still busy and then he punched her in the face.
“They started fighting and then his mother overpowered him, and he pulled out a gun and stabbed her so many times that he even searched her for money while her body was there on the floor.
“Apparently there was a fight the night before and he threatened to kill his mother, and now he has.”
The Makhaza resident says the suspect was staying with his father in Strand.
“He wasn’t in the area long. He went to his father because he was getting out of hand and his mother couldn’t deal with him anymore.
“It’s so weird because he grew up as a quiet boy, who respected and loved his mother, this is all so incredible.”
Police spokesman Captain FC van Wyk says the suspect will appear in court as soon as he is charged.
“Please note that the Harare police are investigating a murder case,” he says.
“According to reports, when police officers arrived at the crime scene in Msendisi Temporals on Saturday at about 9:30 a.m., they found the body of a 48-year-old woman who had suffered multiple stab wounds.
“The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. A suspect has since been arrested and detained.
“After being charged, he is expected to appear in court in the Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court.”
