Orioles places two players on the COVID-19 injured list

Orioles has placed the outfielder Anthony Santander and left-handed Keegan Akin | on the list of damaged COVID-19. Outfielder Ryan McKenna and lefty Alexander Wells has been recalled from Triple-A Norfolk to replace them on the active list.

There are no indications at this time that neither Santander nor Akin have tested positive for COVID-19. Players can land on IL for emotional symptoms or for viral exposure. COVID-19 IL does not have a minimum range.

Santander has got most of his playing time this season in the right field. He hits .231 / .280 / .387 across 247 record appearances, a drop-off from last year’s strong .261 / .315 / .575 line. Akin, meanwhile, has thirteen appearances (including eight starts) this year. He threw 48 1/3 innings on 8.19 ERA / 4.62 SIERA ball. Southpaw had been the expected starter for this afternoon’s match against the Rays. Wells takes the ball instead.
