Police are investigating the serious assault of a 29-year-old woman in Richmond, Nelson.
According to the police, the assault took place on Sunday, July 18, around 1:30 a.m. and the woman did not require medical attention at the time.
“However, this was an extremely traumatic experience and she has received help from victim support services,” the police said in a statement.
Police want to hear from residents and anyone who was in the Cautley Street and Hunt Street area before and around this time and who may have seen or heard anything that could help with their investigation.
The assailant is described as having tall, sturdily built and dark-colored clothing at the time, police said.
There will be a notable police presence in the area in the coming days during the investigation.
“We’re going to search all the homes in the area and we’re particularly interested in getting CCTV footage.”
