A cross-section of youth in Busunu, West Gonja Municipality, has turned down some sacks of rice sent to them by Damongo Constituency MP Samuel Abu Jinapor to celebrate Eid-Ul-Adha festivities.
Not only did they refuse the gift, but they also chased the people amid chants of rejection.
The youths identified as sympathizers of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) said they needed the MP’s jobs and not food.
Speak with JoyNews some residents indicated that some of the sacks of rice previously unloaded in some households in the community were quickly mobilized and returned to the car.
As if the team’s outburst weren’t enough, the youth led by a teacher, Gbelo, honked at the team before expelling them from the community.
“The era of promises and failures by politicians and political parties in Busunu is over,” said the youth.
“We didn’t ask you to give us rice, you promised us jobs and no rice and we’ve gone beyond the rice,” the youth chanted.
JoyNews’ sources in Busunu further indicated that youths who advocated the act are angry NPP supporters who feel betrayed by their lawmakers for neglecting them while giving jobs to opposition supporters.
The sources further noted that prior to this latest outcry, the youths had shown their anger with a protest in Damongo during the opening of the MP office.
