We guess this does not qualify as “amicable.”
Kanye West reportedly compares his marital home to ex-wife Kim Kardashian to a “prison” on his new record and raps that he “escaped from Calabasas.”
West, 44, held a listening party in Las Vegas Sunday for his new songs, with a cut, “Welcome to My Life,” describing his split from the reality star and his failed presidential bid.
The Sun quoted an insider as explaining that the song is “very deep” and “sad,” with West “reflecting on his marriage to Kim.”
“He talks about the children and mentions that she takes everything. After playing this song, he stopped for two minutes and cried. It was really gloomy, ”the source added.
The album – the rapper’s tenth – is named “Donda” after her late mother, who died in 2007 of complications following cosmetic surgery. She was 58.
Two of the guests on the exclusive shindig included web personality Justin Laboy and basketball star Kevin Durant.
“Kanye played his new album for me & @ KDTrey5 last night in Vegas,” Laboy tweeted. “The production is light years ahead of its time, and the bars sound as if he is crushed and hungry and trying to be signed again. Any artist who [plans] by dropping soon just have to push it back. He followed it up with a capsule review with all capsules: “ALBUM OF THE YEAR.”
Earlier this year, Page Six reported exclusively that the A-list pair split. West and Kardashian married on May 24, 2014 in Florence, Italy and had four children: North, Saint, Chicago and Salme.
Last month, during a “Keeping up with the Kardashians” reunion special, the SKIMS founder – who had probably not yet heard “Welcome to My Life” – had only kind words about his stranger husband.
“It was my friend first and foremost for a long time, so I can’t see it going away,” she told Andy Cohen. “I will always be Kanye’s biggest fan. He is the father of my children. Kanye will always be family. ”
