The Pittsburgh Steelers have not yet officially announced the signing of free agent outside linebacker Melvin Ingram, but that’s just a formality at this point. On Monday night, we learned that the one-year contract signed by Ingram totals $ 4 million, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.

Ingram, who previously played for the Los Angeles Chargers, earned $ 14 million in 2020. The previous draft first round could only play in seven games last season due to a knee injury.
As Ingram gets a $ 4 million one-year deal, it makes you wonder if he will be seriously considered, possibly starting with TJ Watt in 2021. Prior to Ingram’s signing, second-year linebacker Alex Highsmith was penalized in to be the Steelers starting off linebacker opposite Watt in 2021.
The Steelers came in on Monday with $ 12,749,106 in vacancy for payroll capacity in 2021. They will, of course, have to make a similar roster move to make room for Ingram. The team has still not yet signed their third round draft, center Kendrick Green.
Ingram’s signature originally spends up $3,340,000 in vacant space in 2021 salary cap after top 51 roster transfer, while we await the corresponding move.
