Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer praised his players’ performance at the European Championship.
Three United stars, Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire and Marcus Rashford, are part of the England squad that will face Italy in the final at Wembley Stadium on Sunday night. Jadon Sancho is expected to complete his transfer once the tournament is over.
On a personal level, Paul Pogba enjoyed an excellent tournament with France and was on track to be included in the team of the tournament until they were knocked out by Switzerland on penalties in the Round of 16 stage.
Victor Lindelof and Diogo Dalot also received praise for their efforts for Sweden and Portugal, while Daniel James showed a glimpse of his talent for Wales.
Now Solskjaer has had his say on the contingent’s summers, saying on the club’s website: “I have to say the performance has been really good.
“You don’t get as much time as before. There are so many competitions, the seasons are longer, but the last 16 months have obviously been very demanding from everyone. They all deserve a good holiday.”
United internationals are expected to be given a period off before returning to Carrington for pre-season preparation.
