The Environment Protection and Development Authority in Ras Al Khaimah announced the results of its fourth session of the “Student Environmental Protection Teams Award”, which this year targeted all public and private schools in the country.
Al-Munai’i School, Cycle One and Two, and Secondary Education for Girls, took first place in the Distinguished Student Environmental Protection Team category. The “Rumaitha Al-Ansariah” School of Primary Education, First Cycle, from Fujairah, took second place. And the third place is Al Dhait School for Basic Education, the first cycle for girls, from Ras Al Khaimah.
In the best application of the standards of environmental excellence, “Al-Qarya” primary school, first cycle of Fujairah, the best preeminent school in planning and implementation of environmental initiatives, and “Al-Manei “school, the first and second cycle, and secondary education for girls, the leading school in awareness and environmental education, and environmental innovation. While the criterion for promoting the green area and media attention was the “Rumaitha Al-Ansariah” school.
Al Dhait School won the Best School category in the results and impact criterion. The criterion for continuous learning and development was for the “Al-Kharan” School of Primary Education. Finally, the criterion for rationalizing energy consumption was for the Anas Ibn Al-Nadr School for second cycle and secondary education.
For the individual prize categories in the environmental literary and artistic creativity competitions, student Mishaal Awad of Second Cycle Abi Tammam School and Secondary Education for Boys, Emirate of Abu Dhabi, took first place in creating an eco-friendly cartoon character. In the short story, Maryam Al-Dahmani of Al-Munai School won first place, and Mayasat Al-Shehhi of Al-Jeer School for Secondary Education took first place in photography. When filming a short film about environmental awareness, Saleh Al-Naqbi, of the Masafi School, won first place.
The ceremony was attended by Eng Abdul Rahman Al Hammadi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Performance Improvement, Sultan Al Habsi, Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, Dr. Rabaa Al Sumaiti, Director General of the Emirates Foundation for School Education and a number of officials.
The award aims to convey its mission to instill positive environmental behavior and develop a sense of national environmental responsibility among student environmental protection teams at the state school level. (wam)
