It has been a very busy week, but first, I released my big monthly Google Webmaster Report-catching up there this month. Google released the June 2021 core update on June 2, but most SEOs didn’t really feel it until Saturday, June 5 or Sunday, June 6. They did. This core update may affect product review sites, but no specific product review updates have been released. Google may launch a local search ranking update on Tuesday, June 8. Google stated that it has algorithms for predatory and exploitative websites that produce defamatory content-we call it the Google Predator Algorithm. Google talked about how it treats multiple variants of anchor text on the same page into the same URL. Google also said that it will try to treat the rel link attributes of nofollow, ugc and sponsor differently. Google also stated that it can correctly understand and rank inclusive language. Google doesn’t want you to rank for its ranking factors, so use RankBrain to stop it. Again, stop sending spam emails linking purchase and sales requests to Google employees, it will be used against you. Google stated that for manual manipulation of unnatural links, rejection is not enough. Google has added backorder availability to the product structured data markup. Google says that if you have templated content above the fold, you do need some unique content. Google has published more detailed information about adult video content in its video best practices help document. Google Ads has released the 8th version of the Ads API. Google partners can keep their current partner badge until February 2022. Google is testing the magnifying glass at the right footer of mobile results. Google once again tested the background title graphic based on a custom query in Google Search. Google’s non-conference events are scheduled within two weeks. 20% of people still use Google Search Console and Google Webmaster Tools, but half of them use Google Ads and Google AdWords. The big news in the industry is that Moz was acquired by iContact. Is this a good thing? If you want to help sponsor these video blogs, please visit patreon.com/barryschwartz.
