Copyright is a problem that YouTube creators have had to deal with for ages, and in many cases they can land them in hot water by mistake. Now, YouTube is developing the possibility for creators to see if their video will have copyright issues at the time of upload with a new “Check” step during upload.
Generally speaking, if a YouTube video is facing copyright issues, creators won’t know it until it’s fully uploaded and, in some cases, published. This can easily drop a creator into hot water with attacks on their channel that lead to various restrictions and consequences.
Now, YouTube is adding a step to the upload process called simply “Checks” that analyzes a video before it is published so that a creator can easily see if they will have problems. In theory, this should make it much easier for creators to know what they will be dealing with before the video is released. However, YouTube notes that this will not affect claims made manually in the future, only those that would be captured with the platform’s automated systems.

Checking copyright allows you to challenge a claim or edit and resolve your video if problems are detected.
